CALM THE ANXIETY THAT WON’T SWITCH OFF

WHEN ANXIETY STARTS RUNNING YOUR LIFE

Anxiety doesn’t always have an obvious cause.

Sometimes it’s a mind that won’t stop thinking. A constant sense that something might go wrong. A tightness in your chest. Difficulty switching off at night. Or feeling on edge even when, logically, you know everything should be okay.

You may have tried telling yourself to relax, think positively or stop worrying.

But when the response is happening automatically, conscious effort alone may not be enough to change the pattern.

That’s where working differently can help.

WHY ANXIETY CAN FEEL SO HARD TO CONTROL

Anxiety isn’t always something you consciously choose.

Your mind and body can learn patterns of responding to situations, thoughts and feelings – and over time, those responses can begin to happen automatically.

A thought appears. Your body reacts. Your mind interprets the reaction. And before you know it, the cycle has already begun.

That’s why simply telling yourself to “calm down” often doesn’t work.

You’re trying to use conscious thought to change a response that may already be happening automatically.

This is where hypnosis offers a different approach.

Rather than simply trying to manage the anxiety when it appears, hypnosis can help you work with the thoughts, associations and automatic responses that may be contributing to the pattern.

When the pattern begins to change, your response can change too.

HOW HYPNOSIS CAN HELP WITH ANXIETY

Hypnosis creates an opportunity to slow things down and work with your experience in a different way.

Rather than fighting the anxiety or trying to force it away, you can begin by noticing what is happening – the thoughts, feelings and physical sensations – without needing to judge or change them.

As you give those experiences space, the struggle around them can begin to soften – allowing you to respond with greater calm, awareness and choice.

From this calmer, more focused state, hypnosis can help you explore and work with the associations, expectations and automatic responses that may be contributing to the anxiety.

The aim isn’t to make you dependent on hypnosis. It’s to help you discover that you can experience difficult thoughts and feelings without automatically being controlled by them.

WHAT ANXIETY CAN LOOK LIKE

Anxiety can show up differently for everyone. For some people it’s constant worry or overthinking. For others, it’s experienced more physically – as tension, a racing heart, restlessness or a feeling that something just isn’t right.

You might notice anxiety showing up as difficulty switching off, trouble sleeping, avoiding certain situations, feeling overwhelmed, or constantly imagining what could go wrong.

Sometimes there’s an obvious trigger. Other times, the anxiety seems to appear for no clear reason at all.

However it shows up for you, the experience is real – and understanding your particular pattern can be an important first step towards changing your relationship with it.

BUSY MIND

Overthinking, constant worry, racing thoughts, imagining worst-case scenarios or finding it difficult to mentally switch off.

PHYSICAL ANXIETY

Tension, a racing heart, butterflies or tightness in the stomach, restlessness, shallow breathing or feeling constantly on edge.

AVOIDANCE & OVERWHELM

Avoiding situations, procrastinating, feeling easily overwhelmed, needing reassurance or changing what you do because of how anxious you might feel.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM A SESSION

Every session begins with a conversation. Before we use hypnosis, I want to understand what you’re experiencing, how anxiety shows up for you and what you would like to be different.

There’s no need to perform, clear your mind or “do hypnosis” correctly. You’ll simply be guided into a more focused, relaxed state where we can begin working with the thoughts, feelings and automatic responses connected with your anxiety.

You remain aware and in control throughout the process. Hypnosis isn’t about someone taking over your mind – it’s a collaborative process designed to help you access your own inner resources in a more focused way.

The aim is not simply to feel better during the session, but to help you develop a different relationship with the thoughts, sensations and situations that may previously have triggered anxiety.

IMAGINE RESPONDING DIFFERENTLY

Imagine noticing the first signs of anxiety without immediately being pulled into them.

Imagine being able to feel a sensation in your body without your mind automatically turning it into something you need to fear, fight or escape from.

Imagine having more space between what happens and how you respond – enough space to choose rather than simply react.

The goal isn’t a life in which you never feel anxious. It’s a life in which anxiety no longer gets to decide what you can and cannot do.

I UNDERSTAND ANXIETY FROM BOTH SIDES

My understanding of anxiety isn’t only professional. I know what it feels like when anxiety takes over – because I’ve lived through debilitating anxiety and panic attacks myself.

I also know what it’s like to come through the other side – to discover that the thoughts, feelings and reactions that once seemed so powerful don’t have to define you or determine how you live.

That experience has shaped the way I work today. I don’t see anxiety as something to fight or something that is fundamentally wrong with you. I’m interested in helping you understand the pattern, create space around it and discover that you can respond differently.

Because sometimes the most powerful change begins when you stop asking, “How do I get rid of this?” and begin discovering, “What happens when I no longer have to be afraid of it?”
